Whoot Mural Day 12

Day 12 at the Whoot mural in the community of Avondale on Belmont between the Kennedy Expressway exit ramp and Kedzie Avenue.

After work today I swung by Home depot and purchased materials to install the drip edge across the top of the mural.

Jerry met me at the site shortly thereafter and we proceeded to drill in and install the drip edges across the length of the mural.

After installation we caulked the entire run of the drip edge and then painted it purple to blend it into the piece.

I then spent some time adding in and taking a few circles to give the piece some balance when viewed from a distance.

Also purchased and applied some special oil based primer to seal the upper left of the mural in the area that was giving us leaking problems. Naturally had to repaint this entire area afterwards but the good news is the oil based primer seemed to do the trick.

Behind some very minor touch up (mainly I’m mulling over whether or not the owl needs an outside outline) the main wallis pretty much done.

After work tomorrow and weather permitting I hope to tackle the small side wrap wall that is primed.
